Statement regarding SafeWork SA charges relating to a 2016 workplace death in Echunga

Treasurer Rob Lucas said today the State Government acknowledges charges have been laid by SafeWork SA in relation to the tragic death of Ms Debra Summers at the Echunga Training Reserve in October, 2016.

“I have been advised by the independent regulator, SafeWork SA, it has this afternoon laid charges against two government departments (SAPOL and DPTI) in relation to the tragic death of Ms Summers back in 2016,” said Treasurer Lucas.

“My thoughts are with her family at this time.

“The Government respects the independence of the regulator and, as this matter is now before the courts, it would be inappropriate for me to provide further comment.”
