NRL fans are flying the coop and heading to Adelaide for Sydney Roosters second ever South Australian home game against Melbourne Storm.
The match will also be broadcast nationally, giving Australia a taste of what rugby fans can expect when Adelaide Oval hosts the blockbuster NRL State of Origin in 2020.
Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, David Ridgway said it was a cracking match in Adelaide last year with the Roosters winning 25-24 in a golden point thriller.
“The teams are separated by just one win on the ladder, promising to keep fans on the edge of their seats,” said Minister Ridgway.
“It’s the only time these two teams will meet this season and given the nail-biting finish to last year’s match where the Roosters snatched the win after the siren, there’ll be a lot on the line.”
Sydney Roosters Head Coach, Trent Robinson said the team was looking forward to returning to the iconic ground for Friday night’s blockbuster.
“We’re excited to be returning to Adelaide Oval, and we always enjoy playing the Storm,” said Robinson.
“There is clearly an appetite for rugby league in South Australia, and we can’t wait to get out there on Friday night,” he added.
