About Matt

Matt Cowdrey OAM is a Paralympian, business professional and long-standing western suburbs local with the skills, knowledge and hard-working attitude the people of Colton deserve in their representative.

From an early age, Matt learnt that hard work, focus and perseverance pays off. Matt was born with a congenital amputation of his left arm and through grit and self-belief, Matt always found ways to succeed. The discipline, focus and work ethic Matt demonstrated whilst winning 13 Paralympic gold medals in swimming, combined with his charity and local community work, makes him the dedicated advocate Colton residents and businesses need.

Working for as a business adviser for leading international firm KPMG, Matt is proud to be part of the Marshall Liberal Team. He has a strong history in advocating for the needs of children and those with disabilities, as a Board Director of Variety Children’s Charity and as an Ambassador for the Be Active Challenge. Through his work with charities and local sporting, lifesaving and community groups, Matt understands the critical role these organisations play in our community.

With a focus on improving essential services in the Western suburbs, Matt will channel his determination to stand-up for the local community. After 15 years of Labor, it’s clear Colton has been taken for granted. Residents and their needs have been overlooked, with the QEH Emergency Department and Henley Beach Police Station the first casualties of funding cuts in the area. Matt will fight to make our streets safer, reinstate police station operating hours, improve our roads and ensure adequate health services are maintained locally.

Matt is passionate about his work in the community and is looking forward to working with local residents on the issues they care about and advocating on their behalf. If Matt can be of any assistance, feel free to get in touch.
