The State Liberals are demanding the Weatherill Government releases the $150,000 report it has commissioned from the Nous Group into the TAFE scandal before the state election.
News that the Weatherill Government is hiding the report into the TAFE debacle comes after the Premier refused to deny that members of his government sought to supress their identity in the ICAC report into the Oakden scandal.
“It is nothing short of disgraceful that the Weatherill Government won’t release the taxpayer funded report into the TAFE debacle until after South Australia votes on the future of the government,” said Shadow Minister for Education John Gardner.
“If Labor has nothing to hide this report would be released before the election.
“The Weatherill Government’s mismanagement of the training sector has been spectacular – they gutted the non-government sector and then failed to deliver on the quality standards we expect from our private provider.
“The failure to meet accreditation standards in all sixteen of the courses audited has badly damaged our reputation – and made it harder to attract young people to undertake a technical qualification.
“TAFE leadership – the Minister, the Board, and the top levels of management – have failed their staff, their students, and the people of South Australia.
“The people of South Australia deserve answers into how the TAFE accreditation scandal was allowed to happen – that’s why Labor must release this report before the election.
“To add insult to injury the Nous Group will be paid $152,000 for the 54 staff days it will take them to compile their report into TAFE.
“At nearly $3000 a day per worker the Nous Group has been extremely well rewarded for a report that won’t see the light of day until after the state election.”
