The Marshall Government’s proposed rate capping legislation will be debated in State Parliament today and the Labor Opposition will be forced to decide whether they support the Bill.
“Peter Malinauskas must show some leadership and urge his Labor colleagues to support our rate capping policy that will save South Australians millions of dollars,” said Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Local Government Stephan Knoll.
“The Marshall Government’s rate capping policy will protect South Australian households and businesses from unjustified rate hikes.
“Labor have opposed this policy for almost five years and continue to deny South Australian ratepayers the same protections that their counterparts are afforded right around the country.
“Peter Malinauskas must now make a decision – is he on the side of ratepayers, or not?
“If not, Peter Malinauskas must explain to South Australians why he does not support a policy that would save South Australians millions of dollars each year.
“A week ago, the Marshall Government made it clear that we would sit into the night to get this Bill through the Lower House so the Labor Opposition have had plenty of time to make up their mind.”
