Organisations that work with youth in South Australia can now apply for grants of up to $2000 to host events during next year’s SA Youth Week – the biggest annual event on the youth calendar.
The State Government will provide a total of $84,000 in grants for SA Youth Week 2019 and is encouraging local councils, State Government and non-government organisations to apply for funding to organise events.
Next year, SA Youth Week runs from 10-18 April. The week celebrates the diversity and achievements of young people in our community.
The SA Youth Week 2019 theme is ‘Participate and celebrate’, in preparation for the 125th anniversary of women’s suffrage in South Australia.
Minister for Human Services Michelle Lensink said SA Youth Week aims to inspire young people to achieve their goals.
“SA Youth Week is an opportunity for the community to appreciate and value our young people and give them the opportunity to be involved in these events being held across the state,” said Minister Lensink.
“By engaging young people in planning events and activities, we aim to encourage a sense of civic participation, share interests and ideas and provide an opportunity for their voices to be heard.
“Activities and events held across metropolitan Adelaide and in regional areas will highlight the significant contributions young people make to their local community and to South Australia more broadly.”
Grant applications can be submitted online at www.officeforyouth.sa.gov.au/sayw by 5pm on Friday 5 October, 2018.
