No-show Gago won’t go
Tourism Minister Gago has refused to meet with the South Australian Tourism Commission Board, despite repeated requests that she do so.
The Liberal Opposition has information which shows Ms Gago is so disinterested in her job that she did not even discuss with the Board its involvement in premium events like the Tour Down Under or the Adelaide Festival.
“It’s a disgrace,” Shadow Minister for Tourism David Ridgway said.
“Here she is, the top job in a $4 billion-a year industry portfolio, and she can’t be bothered to meet the State’s peak tourism body.
“She’s been the Tourism Minister since October. It’s now February. She can’t find an hour in four months? Of course she can. But clearly she has more to do than to do her job properly.
“The Tourism Commission is committed to growing the State’s tourism industry. The board says, rightly, that tourism is big business in South Australia. It creates jobs, earns foreign currency and has the capacity for long-term, sustainable growth.
“Ms Gago, on the other hand, creates chaos and has no long-term future.
“She treats the industry with complete distain,” Mr Ridgway said.
