Duncan McFetridge was born in England and came to South Australia with his family as a child. Duncan grew up and went to school in Elizabeth and Salisbury.

Duncan has been married to Johanna for almost forty years and they have two adult children and two grandchildren.

After teaching high school for a few years in regional South Australia, Duncan studied veterinary science at Murdoch University in Perth. Duncan returned to South Australia and built up a veterinary practice in the south of Adelaide which he sold before entering Parliament as the Member for Morphett in 2002.

With the busy Jetty Road in the electorate, Duncan has been heavily involved in getting the CCTV cameras for Moseley Square and is now fighting to extend this to the rest of the problem area.  He is passionate about “The Bay” and has been working passionately to secure a safe swimming enclosure for Glenelg beach to bring tourists and visitors to the area.

Duncan has also been fighting to have the State Government deal with problems on our local roads, particularly solutions to deal with traffic congestion such as the Oaklands crossing at Diagonal and Morphett Roads which would be best resolved by a grade separation.  He successfully lobbied for the replacement of the King Street Bridge which was completed in late 2011.

Duncan has held numerous shadow portfolios and is currently Shadow Minister for Disabilities. He was a member of the Aboriginal Lands Parliamentary Standing Committee from 2003 to 2010 and was re-appointed to this committee in 2012.

Duncan is a former captain with, and member of, the Country Fire Service and a member of many other community clubs including Rotary.

His other interests include sailing, surfing and personal fitness. Duncan McFetridge takes a close interest in what happens in the Morphett Electorate so that he can take up important issues in the House of Assembly on behalf of his constituents.
