Eight months on – Health Accounts debacle continues
Eight months into the financial year and the Parliament has still not received the Auditor-General’s Report into the Health Department because its financial accounts are a debacle.
No Auditor-General’s report for the Health Department for the 2010/11 year was tabled yesterday with the opening of Parliament.
The Labor Government has previously confirmed that $7.1 million of accounts had been paid twice and as of the 12th February there were still $20 million of unreconciled accounts.
This is a major embarrassment for Treasurer Snelling and Minister Hill who have overseen the debacle.
How does $7.1 million of accounts get paid twice?
“Eight months after the end of financial year and $20million of accounts remain unreconciled!” Shadow Treasurer Iain Evans said.
“Minister Hill needs to confirm if all of the $7.1 million in double payments has now been recovered and if not, how much is outstanding?
“The Health accounts are so bad that consultants have been brought in to try to clean up the mess.
“Minister Hill needs to make public how much is being paid to the consultants to sort out his health financial crisis.
“It’s embarrassing that the Health Minister still can’t produce a set of audited accounts eight months after the end of the financial year,” Mr Evans said.
